So she betrayed the Ents to someone who is impulsive, headstrong, rebellious, and bitter--what could POSSIBLY go wrong....
She's a teenager. Peer approval is THE most important thing.
Appreciation of consequences requires several years more brain development - and learning the hard way.
All this is true, but it will be cold comfort to the Ents if furious settlers attack them for destroying technology. Do you suppose Tanya's mom would survive the purge?
Good question. Here's another:
Do you think she deserves to?
Gah! I'm kind of conflicted about the Ents. On the one hand, the settlers who were enslaving the natives needed to be stopped, but on the other, nobody elected the Ents to be Gods and destroy the technology of the setters, including those who were behaving ethically.
As for Tanya's mom, specifically, she decried their high-handedness, but stayed with them anyway....
And to top it all off, I really don't have any more right to pass judgement on the Ents than they did to pass judgement on the setters--you're right, it's a really good qustion. ><
Please tell me that 'Blef' isn't the sound of that creature she encountered in the ship...
