Oh, A MARRIAGE ceremony. Will licorice do something embarrassing?
Just when she really needs her trusty spear... Why, that two-timing louse...!
(She'd never get away with it anyway, so it's better this way.)
Two timing? Are you kidding? After Licorice dropped him like a bad habit to chase after Eli, all excited over the prospect of impending violence and future importance?
I love that Kobei is drawn in a way that could clearly be appealing to the locals but doesn't conform to human standards of princely beauty.
I just noticed their spots changed from one frame to the next!
I'm too lazy to trawl the archives to see if this is a thing, but should I now assume that their spots move and change all the time?
Who knows? Perhaps there's something in their skin that affects the surface pigmentation based on changes in mood and/or emotions, so that the spots aren't actually moving but rather fading out and new ones appearing elsewhere? Call it their version of human blushing.
The "spots" are actually tiny creatures that live in a symbiotic relationship with their hosts, so they are constantly moving to consume excess proteins or cleaning up. (And yes they can do a Happy Dance but seeing that is beyond the scope of this graphic novel's format...)
Works for me. To be fair Tanya has obviously had a lot going on lately, otherwise I'm sure she would have already mentioned this particular detail about the native people. Just slipped her mind, I guess. Hmm, just imagine if human freckles worked that way...
I'LL try not to imagine that (Ohh too late!)
But many other examples of symbiosis in nature, mostly microscopic, like the intestinal flora and fauna that help us digest our Twinkies and happy meals. Also large scale and mobile as hippos, crocs and all sorts of land animals have birds eating bugs off their backs (or cleaning their teeth...!)
