They'll take it away from her. Adults never feel they have to keep that kind of promise.
keeping a promise to a child, huh?
why don't I trust this?
I suspect she'll tell them how to set it up and they'll decide it's too dangerous to have her on the expedition.
Then she'll end up going on an adventure without them.
Well, they'll have to take ~some of it to analyze, since that trader isn't around currently. She was going to eventually run out you know
It will be an excellent test of their character, let be known how true our beloved leaders are.
If they take it away, she still can try following them. Somehow.
Nice work! I especially like the close-up in the last panel. :)
Please don't use gypsy. It's not a cool word and this comic is too lovely to be smeared by a slur. :(
The word "Nicole" offends me. Please stop using that for a user name.
Pretending to be offended by the name "Nicole" doesn't change the fact that "g*psy" is a slur against Romani, Traveller/Pavee, and similar ethnic groups. Actual Romani people have sometimes compared it to the "n" word. People can barely be bothered to remember the Nazis' attempts to exterminate the Romani during the Holocaust, so expecting people to know and care about offensive language may be a tall order, but hardly political correctness gone mad.
Thankfully the author doesn't portray them as thieves and grifters (unlike just about everything other than Hunchback of Notre Dame, which also used the g-slur), and so presumably intends it as a harmless synonym for "nomad." "Nomad" would be a better, actually harmless word for them.
Noooo don't trust the grownups! Plus you can just tell that Mom is totally faking it, the whole thing is a setup.
You're honing your style down, increasingly minimalist, jettisoning every extraneous line - a couple of strokes delineate a character, an expression, a situation - the story continues to be intriguing and the characters engaging. You are mastering your art. Chapeaux!
