Hi.

I again want to thank everyone who has been following Tangled River, especially those of you who have written comments and voted on TopWebcomics. I don’t think I could have kept up the schedule without knowing there were people looking forward to the next episode.

I’m going to continue doing Wednesday updates for another few weeks. I’ve done a few maps I’d like to share, and I’d also like to answer any questions you may have about the story, and also update you on some other projects I’ve got in the works. Also, if anyone wants to send me some fan art, I can post that here.

Someone wanted to know what happened to Licorice after she left Tanya. Well, when I started scripting this book I made some rules for myself. One was that there would be no obvious villain in the story. Another was that we would only see everything from Tanya’s point of view, whether it was what she was experiencing in the moment, or was imagining when someone was telling her something. I also wanted to avoid dream or fantasy sequences. So when considering if I should answer the question, I decided to stick with the rules,; and since Tanya never learned Widow’s fate, neither would we. However, if anyone likes writing fan fiction, it would be interesting to speculate.

A couple of people asked what my next project is. One thing I want to do is to get all my previous out-of-print work available again, preferably in the large sized hard-back editions that Artithmeric.com is producing.

We’ve completed 4 volumes collecting the complete Strange Attractors series from the ‘90’s, as well as the 4 volume Tangled River graphic novel in English and Italian. Next up, I want to finish a fantasy story I serialized in the anthology comic Mythography, which ran for 8 issues in the late ‘90’s. I had 100 pages done, which I’ve recently reworked and relettered. I need to do another 25 or so pages to finish the story, which is called “A Gathering of Spells”. I’m planning on uploading it as a webcomic in a few pages a week on Comic Fury, so look for it to start soon.

Right now I’m trying to finish up proof reading and resizing all the Tangled River pages. You can order all 4 volumes now at Artithmeric.com, and we’ll be able to ship them out pretty soon. The paper quality and color in these volumes is exceptionally good.

For those of you who prefer comic books, It’s Alive! will be releasing Tangled River as a monthly 12 issue mini-series sometime in the Spring. Watch this space for more info.

Okay, any questions?

Sorry for the offtopic, but what's your experience with Artithmeric? I ordered a book from them and the printing quality was horrible. There were ugly random magenta lines running through every page of the book and the pages generally looked like they were printed on a cheap printer at home: very grainy, oversaturated, etc.

Hi Mild. I'm a fan of Gifts of Wandering Ice. I forwarded your comment to Steve Bee, the owner of Artithmeric. As always, he takes these problems very seriously, and I believe he has already communicated with you about replacing any bad copies. It sounds like this situation was due to an American printer he was using early on, and since everything is now being printed in his own shop, he is committed to keeping the quality as high as possible.

Thanks, I already wrote to Artithmeric. I wanted a refund because I didn't want to take any chances but they sent me another copy instead. Oh well... I hope it will be better than the first one but I'm not hopeful.

:)

Map! ?

Apart from that, I like your choice: Open ends and point-of-view are perfect, because the story and the telling of the story are the important things (and the apparent view of the world where appropriate).
From a slightly different point of view: I don't think it necessary for Lickorice to run away and vanish, but when she does, it indeed should read that way (as it does).
