This is AMAZING!!! I love the photographs!!!! The idea that these characters are modeled on actual people is blowing my mind!
The more I read and learn about the history of the characters,the more I think about a novel called Dragonriders of Pern just without the dragons.
All I can tell you about that camera is that it's NOT the kind the DMV uses!
I hang out with a few folk who sport the occasional Speed Graphic™; one has a fedora with an aged press pass tucked into the hat band.
I'll bet it was already just about impossible to get film and flashbulbs for that Speed Graphic (or Press Graphic -- I can't tell) before they left Terra. Now -- that thing is just a collector's item, or a mystery.
