There are and will be some clues as to why the ship interior looks the way it does. But the explanation won't be clear for awhile, so I hope you'll be patient.
What in the world happened on that ship? How can so many things--like that easel with a painting on it--be still standing, rather than displaced, if the ship crashed? Did it make an emergency landing? Self-guided, perhaps?
And how odd is it that Mom's studio is intact after all this time?
Looks like the colonists used it as a base area for some time until they all finally left.
Not everyone left, we already saw the pharmacist staid behind, and the daughter thought she heard something (or someone) inside...
